This forecourt presence will deliver an estimated annual retail turnover of €50 million to ADM Londis and create a total of 300 jobs, it says.
The agreement will see the new Londis branded concept stores developed in 10 existing forecourts in Munster and Connaught in 2008, with the first two opening by the end of June.
The nationwide extension will continue in 2009, with 10 additional Texoil company owned and company operated forecourt stores in the pipeline for phased development.
ADM Londis has an existing presence of over 370 stores in Ireland with an established forecourt in 80 sites.
Commenting on the announcement, ADM Londis joint chief executive Stephen O’Riordan said: “This marks a significant step for ADM Londis. The strengthening of our nationwide forecourt retail presence is a positive move developing a new outlet for our innovative concept stores and reinforcing ADM Londis’s position as an established player in the Irish grocery retail market.”
Mr O’Riordan continued: “Increased competition has meant that every group in Ireland has had to examine its position and develop its offering.”
Tom Kirrane, managing director at Texoil said: “We are delighted to have partnered with ADM Londis to ensure a modern, consumer friendly offering throughout our forecourts. With a further 10 sites planned by 2009, together with ADM Londis, Texoil are determined to provide the Irish public with new alternative in forecourt retailing.”
