INTENSE negotiations to secure €35 million state aid for Waterford Wedgwood Group are under way to save the remaining 600 jobs at the group’s crystal plant in Waterford.

Attorney General Paul Gallagher, the Government and Enterprise Ireland are involved in efforts to try to find a mechanism to save the jobs.

The matter was understood to have been put before the Cabinet for discussion again yesterday.
