IMI chief calls for 25% hike in management training

IMI chief executive Dr Tom McCarthy said the ESRI and Fás have predicted the number of managers in the Irish economy will increase by between 18% and 25% by the year 2012.

He said this growth needs to be underpinned by “targeted and effective upskilling of workers”.

Also the IMI announced a series of new appointments yesterday which it said will allow it to expand its offering of executive education and management training programmes.

“Huge growth is likely to come in the need for management training and these appointments allow us to be in a position to supply Ireland Inc with the skills and talent it will need for the future,” said Dr McCarthy.

The IMI appointments include Dr Paul Donovan as IMI head of management development; Dr Tim Wray as IMI head of executive education; Laura McLellan manager of sales and business services and Kathleen O’Connor who joined IMI as marketing manager.
