Barclays up stake in research firm

CORK-BASED cancer drug research firm EiRx Therapeutics said Barclays Stockbrokers, through Barclays PLC, has raised its stake in the company to about 934.9 million shares, or about 13.4%, from 211.63 million shares.

This follows an announcement last month that it would have to cease trading unless it completed a funding package by February 15.

However, the firm later said it agreed in principle to a funding package designed to provide working capital until at least the end of the year.
