IRISH employers will get a significant boost on Friday when workers will give €300 million worth of free labour on the day — February 29.

One of the country’s top economists said that if employers do not pay staff for an extra day of work on Friday as the result of a leap year, it will be a huge boost for them in terms of revenue.

Chief economist with Friends First Jim Power was commenting on millions of the country’s contracted workers being forced to work an extra day this year but not being paid for it.
