Irish weanlings suit Italian market

ITALIAN farmers want healthy weanlings that will have a consistent thrive over the fattening period, according to the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers Association.

A group of association members led by Brendan McLaughlin were briefed on the requirements of Italian fatteners during a visit to the country.

After visiting six feedlots and a cattle mart the group reported that all the beef breeds from Ireland were popular with the Italians.
