Docklands project calls for incentives

CORK CHAMBER has urged Finance Minister Brian Cowen not to turn a blind eye to the Cork Docklands development project in the upcoming Finance Act.

Docklands project calls for incentives

Chairman of the Cork Chamber’s Economic Development Committee Frank O’Mahony said the project has been identified as a priority in the National Development Plan 2007 – 2013 and the National Spatial Strategy and is therefore in line with the Government’s objectives for delivering balanced regional development.

“However, the minister did not support the inclusion of targeted financial incentives for Cork Docklands in Budget 2008. In light of this, the pending Finance Act represents an ideal opportunity for Government to address this nationally strategic project,” said Mr O’Mahony.
