CONCERN over job security is rising, according to a survey of Unite trade union.

It revealed that 22% of those polled are very concerned over their personal job security heading into 2008. This figure is up from 16% last year. The percentage of those who are not concerned at all has fallen to 34% from 43% 12 months ago.

“Unemployment is rising and people are getting worried,” said Unite national officer Jerry Shanahan, revealing the findings of the survey of 1,000 of the union’s total membership in Ireland of 100,000.
