AER RIANTA has won one of its largest ever contracts which will see it develop operations at a new terminal at Moscow Airport. The deal will generate sales of more than €1 billion over seven years.

The airport retailer announced details yesterday of the contract with JSC Terminal, the authority responsible for developing Terminal 3 at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport.

Aer Rianta International, a subsidiary of the Dublin Airport Authority, will operate 2,200sq m of retail space in the duty-free area of Terminal 3 where it has the rights to sell duty -free products in eight stores.

The company has also signed a seven-year contract to operate two duty-paid stores at the terminal’s domestic gates in addition to the advertising management contract it secured earlier this year.

Director general of Aer Rianta International, Eamon Foley said: “Air travel for business and leisure purposes is growing rapidly in Russia. Over 12 million passengers will use Terminal 3 every year. We were the first duty-free operator in Russia, next year we celebrate 20 years in Moscow and this contract heralds an even more significant business presence for us in the years ahead,” he added.

Aer Rianta International is the largest airport retailer in Russia. It has a significant presence in the country’s four principal airports and operates in the two existing terminals at Sheremetyevo Airport.

Marketing director of JSC Terminal Tatiana Zotova said: “We are very pleased to announce we have selected ARI to operate the duty-free outlets at Sheremetyevo 3.” The Irish company holds minority shareholdings in Dusseldorf Airport in Germany and in Paphos and Larnaca Airports in Cyprus.
