Kingspan Century secures €4m contract for zero-carbon homes project

KINGSPAN Century has secured a €4m contract from the British government in a project committed to the building of 200 zero-carbon homes.

The site for the development is close to Bristol and is the first to be identified under the British government’s Carbon Challenge, which is part of the State’s strategy to tackle climate change.

The company said the finished development will include a mix of affordable and private homes.

Kingspan and developer Barratt Developments of Bristol have formed a joint venture to deliver the project. The developer will use Kingspan’s TEK building system which is based on structural insulated panels.

The company said the insulation system that delivers high levels of thermal insulation and airtightness.

All homes marketed for sale in Britain since yesterday require a home information pack, encompassing an energy rating certificate.

NCB Stockbrokers said the move is just another case of legislative change driving demand toward the Irish group’s environmentally-friendly product suite.

The group’s market leadership of the insulation board sector will ensure further growth of that evolving market segment.

The group is expected to give an update with its trading statement on December 18 and “we expect to confirm our forecast EPS growth of 22% in 2007, with an advance of 13% in 2008,” said NCB.
