Department opts for biofuel heating

BIOFUEL heating systems are to be installed in offices of the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food at eight locations.

The move follows a survey by the Office of Public Works. The heating systems should be installed early next year.

Earlier this year, the heating of the department’s office at Johnstown Castle, Co Wexford, was switched over to a woodchip boiler.

Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan has also outlined a range of other measures that have been undertaken to make department buildings more environmentally friendly.
