IFA: Visit vulnerable neighbours

IFA Countryside Committee chairman David Wilkinson has called on all rural people to give time to visiting a vulnerable relative or neighbour especially during the dark winter months.

He said the Muintir na Tíre neighbourhood watch programme is a fantastic initiative and rural people have the responsibility to look out for their neighbours.

“Being too busy is no excuse for leaving vulnerable people isolated or for not taking immediate action to notify the authorities of any potential dangers or suspicious activities within their own area,” he said.

He said an active and alert neighbourhood watch can prove to be a massive deterrent to preventing local crime.
