A mixed day for financials

THE financials had a mixed day, with AIB losing 19c to 13.65 and Bank of Ireland shedding 2c to 9.75. Anglo Irish jumped 27c to 9.65 and Irish Life & Permanent slipped 11c to 11.69.

Construction giant CRH gained 39c to 23.34 while Grafton fell 20c to 5.99.Kingspan dipped 2c to 13.28. Ryanair weakened by 25c to 4.57, while drinks company C&C dropped 2c to 4.07. Paddy Power closed 55c lighter at 22.10, with more than 2.7 million shares traded.

The Dublin market eventually closed 28.50 points lower at 6595.59.
