We must not rush to big multiple mentality

EVEN our populist Taoiseach Bertie Ahern managed a warm welcome for Tesco’s glowing report about all it is doing for the Irish economy.

Tesco is in 25 of the 26 counties and is working on setting up in Co Kilkenny, where so far it has failed to gain a toehold.

Tesco’s contribution to the Irish economy is substantial. It contributed €2.5 billion to the economy last year and is set to increase that contribution in the years ahead.
