Farmers: flow of funds must continue

FUNDING must continue to be made available to allow the farm improvement scheme to operate up to 2013, according to Macra na Feirme president Catherine Buckley.

She called for a meeting between the Government and farming social partnership to resolve the matter.

ICSA president Malcolm Thompson said that stopping funding to farmers who have yet to complete their building work shows a lack of commitment to progress.

He called on Agriculture Minister Mary Coughlan to seek extra funding to put in place a scheme that will last throughout the 2007–2013 period.
