Bodega bar sold again in €8m deal

CORK’S Bodega bar is being sold on by developer Owen O’Callaghan, with purchaser Benny McCabe lined up to take the premises in a deal valued about €8 million.

O’Callaghan bought the Bodega in February 2007, for about €7m, from entrepreneur and bar/restaurant/hotel owner Jay Bourke.

O’Callaghan Properties had acquired the bar as a base for TK Maxx.

However, TK Maxx is now set to locate across Cornmarket Street, in a rival retail scheme being undertaken by Kerry-based Rockfell, due for completion in 2008.

Mr McCabe owns a number of bars, including Crane Lane, and The Oval.
