Wendy’s to scrap Frescata range

US fast food chain Wendy’s is reportedly gearing up to scrap its Frescata range of sandwich products as a regular item in its outlets by the end of this year, after poor sales.

However, the company is likely to keep the range on the backburner for limited edition roll-outs. The Irish angle to the plan is that IAWS provides the bread that Wendy’s uses in the Frescata range.

“Frescata sales have clearly been relatively subdued recently and the addition of Otis Spunkmeyer will reduce the impact of any lost sales as a percentage of US business for IAWS,” one Dublin-based analyst said yesterday.
