Recreation officer move ‘premature’

THE appointment of rural recreation officers by Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs Minister Eamon Ó Cuiv has been described as premature.

IFA Hill Committee chairman Neilie O’Leary said there is still no scheme available for farmers to create walks.

He said the development of a network of walks could be achieved if a scheme is put in place that recognises farmers’ role in the development and maintenance of access routes to their land.
