ICMSA welcomes quota change

THE Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association has welcomed the changes to the milk quota exchange announced by Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Minister Mary Coughlan.

Describing them as broadly positive, Dairy Committee chairman Dominic Cronin said specific anomalies highlighted by the ICMSA in the old system appear to have been addressed.

While the ICMSA has misgivings about raising the upper purchasing limit to 80,000 gallons, overall the changes made are both timely and logical, he said.
