Chambers urges capital commitment

CHAMBERS Ireland yesterday urged the Government to remain committed to completing the National Development Plan and Transport 21 programmes on time and to ensure that capital investments are not “crowded out” by the public service pay bill.

Chambers chief executive John Dunne said: “The key challenge will be cutting the rate of growth in public sector expenditure from around 14%, as was the case in 2007, to about 5% this year. In doing so, the Government must continually focus on delivering on infrastructure.”
