Milk price rise move is praised

A DECISION by Dairygold to raise its August milk price by 2.63c per litre plus VAT has been welcomed by IFA Munster vice president Sean O’Leary.

Milk price rise move is praised

But he said the increase, which brings Dairygold’s milk price to 35.42c per litre plus VAT, still falls short of the IFA target price for August of 40c per litre plus VAT. “There is no reason why milk processors are not paying their suppliers the IFA stated price, as the dairy markets are continuing to strengthen,” he said.

Mr O’Leary said dairy farmers must continue to demand that the full benefits of the dairy market buoyancy is passed back to them in milk price.
