Authority approves TCH radio purchase

IRISH EXAMINER owner Thomas Crosbie Holdings (TCH) has received formal approval from the Competition Authority for the proposed acquisition of a majority shareholding in radio stations WLR and Beat 102-103.

TCH has acquired a 75% shareholding in Beat 102-103. WLR FM managing director Des Whelan has increased his stake in the youth-oriented station to 25%.

Thomas Crosbie Holdings has acquired a 75% stake in award-winning Waterford radio station WLR FM.

WLR FM managing director Des Whelan has retained a 25% stake in the station which broadcasts in Waterford city and county.

Commenting on the announcement TCH Group managing director Anthony Dinan said: “We are delighted to have received approval from the Competition Authority. We can now proceed with building and developing our business. The addition of WLR FM and Beat 102-103 FM will greatly enhance our portfolio of businesses and brands.”
