Question mark over cattle movements

AN emergency meeting of the ICSA national executive in Portlaoise has called for tougher measures regarding British exports and has placed a question mark on whether livestock movements should be permitted across the North-South border until there is full understanding of what is going on.

According to ICSA president Malcolm Thompson, “it is now clear that allowing exports from Britain was too rushed. The fact that livestock were imported to Ireland from Britain this month was potentially catastrophic.”
