Union anger over Arnotts sale move

MANDATE trade union’s national official Linda Tanham has criticised Arnotts bosses over what she said has been “a total lack of consultation” with the union, which represents more than 800 staff at the retailers.

It comes after the revelations that Boundary Capital and Anglo Irish Bank are set to buy a substantial stake in Arnotts from the Nesbitt family for a reported €65 million.

Ms Tanham said that, given all of the recent developments in the Arnotts ownership saga and the absence of consultation with staff and their representatives, the union is concerned about the impact of these developments on the future of the 800-plus people it represents.
