Ronan Daly Jermyn enters top 10 legal firms in country after €3m deal

GALWAY legal firm William B Glynn solicitors has been acquired by Ronan Daly Jermyn (RDJ) in a €3 million merger which propels the Cork firm into the top 10 legal firms in the country.

The deal, described as a merger by both companies, will result in RDJ, Cork and the newly named RDJ Glynn, Galway, having a staff of more than 140, with further recruitment planned in Galway in October, according to RDJ managing partner John Dwyer.

“William B Glynn Solicitors has had a significant presence in Galway and Billy Glynn and his team have built a distinguished legal practice, with a strong client base and an equally strong reputation for professionalism.

“This merger means that together, we can now grow our legal team in Galway, providing new specialist capabilities in areas such as corporate and commercial law, commercial property, employment and taxation. The combination of RDJ and William B Glynn generates a real synergy and will enable us to represent our clients more effectively on a truly national scale,” said Mr Dwyer.

The enlarged Cork headquartered firm, the biggest legal practice outside Dublin, will look at further expansion possibilities once the Galway firm has been integrated and fully bedded-in, Mr Dwyer added.

Commenting on the merger William B Glynn partner Billy Glynn said: “It was important for us to do business with a firm that we knew could leverage our existing legal capabilities and facilitate us in the provision of a new range of legal services for our clients.

“It will also bring additional resources and expertise to our many valued clients. Both firms identified a strong demand in the west of Ireland for a law firm providing legal services to the business community. With this in mind, it was essential that there was a commitment to the growth of the Galway firm. Our aspirations were matched by RDJ’s objectives and the result is great news for our existing clients and those seeking specialist legal advice in the western region.”
