Air Berlin to drop Belfast route

Air Berlin is pulling out of its service between the George Best Belfast City Airport and London Stansted.

The airport said it was disappointed, but said it still had plenty of links with London.

Air Berlin, which has operated the service for around 18 months has made no formal announcement of its decision, but it is believed to be down to increased operating costs.

Air Berlin pulls out on October 29, just after Ryanair launches its first services from the Belfast airport to Glasgow, Liverpool and East Midlands.
