Tribunal awards compensation

A BELFAST Employment Tribunal has awarded the maximum compensation to CWU members who used to work for TriVirix International for its failure to consult over redundancies.

Tribunal awards compensation

The US based medical equipment manufacturer failed to consult the CWU when it closed its Belfast plant in February 2006 with 110 job losses. Forty-nine CWU members will now share about £55,000 (€81,000) in compensation.

Lillian Short former CWU Lead Rep at TriVirix said: “We are delighted that TriVirix has now been named and shamed. The compensation won’t get our jobs back but it will hopefully act as a warning to other rogue employers.”
