THE Irish Farmers’ Association is seeking derogation for participants in the Rural Environment Protection Scheme because of the wet weather.

IFA deputy president Derek Deane said the derogation being sought is for farmers who cannot meet their slurry spreading requirement due to poor land conditions.

Under the conditions of the scheme, farmers have until the end of August to empty their slurry tanks.
