Financials do well as market rises

The ISEQ Index closed in positive territory on the back of strong financial movements. The Dublin Exchange gained 43 points to 8,150.

Market heavyweight AIB gained 13c to €18.78. Rival Bank of Ireland was 21c better off at €13.30. Irish Life and Permanent and Anglo were 15c and 17c stronger at €17.80 and €13.97 respectively.

The construction sector was weak as housing completions data showed a 35% decline in July compared to last year. CRH dipped 5c to €29.95. Kingspan was 30c lower at €15.90. Grafton Group finished 8c higher at €9.38.
