THE National Roads Authority (NRA) is embarking on a package of initiatives to control noxious weeds, it was revealed yesterday.

Principal weeds which must be controlled under the Noxious Weeds Act are ragwort, thistle, dock and wild oat.

Ragwort is poisonous to animals when grazed or consumed in hay or silage, while thistle and dock in grassland and wild oat in cereals adversely affect crop yields.
