Markets again take big hit

THERE was turmoil on world markets yesterday as the US Federal Reserve revealed it has pumped more than $190bn into the US banking system in the last few days to ease credit concerns.

The ISEQ followed all major bourses by tumbling 354.41 to 8,346.72.

The financials bore the brunt of volatile market conditions. AIB shed 117c to €18.40 and Bank of Ireland followed suit with a loss of 76c to €13.34. Anglo-Irish and Irish Life and Permanent also dropped 60c and 47c to finish at €13.40 and €17.60.
