Alliance Medical buy Limerick firm

A LIMERICK-based medical company has been bought for an undisclosed sum by Alliance Medical, one of the largest providers of diagnostic scanning in Europe.

MRI service provider Sequence Medical Group was established in 2000 by businessman Chris Jones. It employs 46 staff and has a registered business address in Limerick.

It has nine contracts in hospitals in Cork, Limerick, Tralee, Renmore, Drogheda, Tullamore, Navan, Clane and one in Belfast. The deal with Alliance Medical was announced yesterday.

Chief executive of Alliance Medical, Alan Pilgrim said: “We are delighted to have been able to acquire Sequence Medical and look forward to working with Chris Jones, the founder of Sequence Medical, in further developing services offered in the fast growing Irish market.”

Alliance Medical owns over 140 scanners across Europe, covering MRI, CT and PET imaging. The company is the largest provider of medical imaging services in Europe and has expertise and experience in the provision of MRI scans.

In Britain the firm has over 450 customers, which includes a contract from the Department of Health for 635,000 scans to be carried out over five years.
