THE outgoing chief executive of Bord Gáis Gerry Walsh yesterday called on the company to honour his seven-year-old employment contract relating to his retirement from his €316,000-a-year job.

Yesterday, Mr Walsh retired as Bord Gáis chief executive, having announced his intention to step down in May after 22 years with the company.

But in a surprise move he issued a personal statement relating to media commentary indicating that the Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources had raised a number of issues regarding the terms applicable to his departure on the expiry of his employment contract.
