McCambridge buys Inter Link Foods
The deal however will see the loss of 180 jobs at British-based Inter Link but the announcement ends months of uncertainty over the future of its operations and workforce.
Inter Link’s businesses will continue to trade under their own brand names but the new enlarged group will trade under the McCambridge Group name, which is now in the third generation of family ownership.
Chief executive of McCambridge Michael McCambridge said: “The acquired businesses have excellent people, famous brands and products.”
Inter Link operated one of the largest bakeries in Poland and McCambridge said it intend to use this as a springboard for further expansion in Europe.
McCambridge, which started trading in Ireland in the first half of the last century intends to maintain a regional head office in Blackburn, Lancashire.
Some head office functions will be combined with McCambridge’s existing offices in Dublin and Oxford. The company said any restructuring will be kept to a minimum.
McCambridge, which employs 1,000 people in Ireland and Britain, first approached Inter Link in May.
