Services sector sees growth

GROWTH in the service sector of the economy accelerated last month due to higher levels of new business, according to the NCB Purchasing Managers’ Services Index which recorded 56.9 in June, up from 54.9 in May. Any figure above 50 indicates growth.

NCB economist Eunan King said there was strong growth in new business and employment, while confidence remained high.

The new business index improved to 57.4, while the employment index was 56.2, up from 55.5 in May.
