IHBA rejects ESRI report on housing

THE Irish Home Builders’ Association (IHBA) has rejected UCD academic Morgan Kelly’s report on the Irish housing market in the ESRI Quarterly Economic Commentary (Summer 2007) as inaccurate and questioned the research basis for the report’s findings.

According to IHBA the report ignores the fundamentals — economic, social and demographic — that have driven and will continue to drive the Irish housing market and inaccurately summarises the relationship during the past decade between home ownership and the private rental sector.
