Shannon chief to step down in 2008

SHANNON DEVELOPMENT chief executive Kevin Thompstone, yesterday announced his decision to step down in the summer of 2008.

Mr Thompstone will continue as chief executive for another year to ensure continued focus on the delivery of the company’s regional development mandate while the search for a new chief executive gets underway.

Mr Thompstone joined Shannon Development in 1985. Commenting on his decision, Mr Thompstone said: “I have decided to step down at a time when the company has a strong mandate from Government, and has a clear vision and strategy for the future development of the Shannon Region.”

Cllr John Brassil, chairman of Shannon Development, said: “Kevin’s legacy to Shannon Development and the Shannon region is the many groundbreaking innovative projects in the region that are the result of his vision and tenacity”.
