Choice group to run €100m Clarion hotel

CHOICE Hotels Ireland is to run the €100 million four-star Clarion hotel in Dublin’s Point Village.

The new 250-bedroom Point Village hotel will open in 2009 and will bring the number of Choice Hotels in Ireland to 23.

Managing director of Choice Hotels Ireland Frankie Whelehan said: “The Point Village hotel is superbly located and will benefit from the enhanced entertainment, retail and commercial environment that will result from the very exciting Point Village development.

“For Choice Hotels Ireland, this deal increases the number of the group’s hotels in Dublin City and county to 11 with over 2,000 hotel bedrooms, consolidating its position as the largest hotel operator in the capital.”

The hotel will be located in the centre of the Point Village which will cover a 12-acre site surrounding the Point Theatre, which will include a shopping centre, offices and a multiplex cinema.

Chairman of Point Village, Harry Crosbie said: “This is another hugely significant step in the process of securing tenants for this unique development.”

“And having a world-class hotel operated by a world-class team will help drive visitors to the Point Village and to the city of Dublin,” he added.

It is expected that The Point Village will be one of the busiest shopping precincts in Dublin.
