Unite hopeful on AIB staff scheme

AN expected recommendation on the AIB staff pension scheme by the Labour Relations Commission (LRC) mirrors a series of deals negotiated over the last six months by the Amicus section of the recently merged Unite trade union, the body claimed yesterday.

“The deals we have agreed with leading institutions have protected the future financial security of our members at EBS Building Society, Allianz, Royal and Sun Alliance, Permanent TSB and Hibernian,” said Unite (Amicus) national officer Jerry Shanahan.

“If advance reports that the LRC tribunal is to recommend AIB revising its scheme are correct, then this will be another significant step on the road to establishing fair pension cover for all in Ireland,” he added.
