Breeo Foods avert industrial action

Yesterday’s planned industrial action at Breeo Foods in Mitchelstown, Co Cork, was averted after both sides agreed to take the matter to the Labour Relations Commission.

The sausage production section of the Galtee meats plant was closed two weeks ago and the 23 employees in the sausage production section were due to be redeployed to another section of the operation.

Workers voted by 93 votes to one for industrial action and their union, SIPTU, served two weeks’ notice on the company.
