Banks chief warns of complacency

FEDERATION of International Banks in Ireland (FIBI) chairman, Michael Deeny has warned against complacency in the bid to keep Ireland a leading player in the international banking industry.

Addressing the FIBIs annual lunch in Dublin, yesterday, which coincided with the 20th anniversary of the opening of the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC), Mr Deeny welcomed Ireland becoming a global leading player in niche banking and financial markets — such as alternative investment funds and money market funds — but warned that challenges must be taken seriously if that trend was to continue.
