The new owners of Northern Ireland electricity firm Viridian have reshuffled their top management.

Finance director Patrick Bourke has appointed chief executive to succeed Patrick Haren who now becomes non-executive deputy chairman.

Viridian was bought for €3.1 billion last year by Arcapita, an investment group from Bahrain.

Wallace to speak at IPI conference

Kilkenny: Wexford-born developer Mick Wallace will be a guest speaker at the annual conference of the Irish Planning Institute (IPI) which takes place in Kilkenny tomorrow and Friday.

The theme of the conference is Towards Sustainable Urban & Rural Communities and Mr Wallace — developer of the Italian Quarter in Dublin’s city centre — will give the developer’s point of view.

Architect and TV presenter Duncan Stewart will speak on sustainable transport and planning.

The conference is aimed at planners working in the public and private sectors.
