IE domain one of best in the world

THE IE Domain Registry, the managed registry for Ireland’s official internet address .ie, today welcomed the results of the McAfee Site Advisor Report, which named the .ie domain name as the second safest domain name in the world.

Over 260 top-level domains were ranked in the research.

Commenting on the results, Mr David Curtin, Chief Executive of the IE Domain Registry (IEDR), said: “It is no surprise that .ie was ranked so favourably, as the second safest domain name in the world. The .ie domain name is governed by a managed registry model, which means that applicants for a domain name must authenticate their claim to a domain name. The benefits of this are; there are virtually no cyber-crimes, identity theft nor credit card fraud, less incidences of spam and virtually no cyber-squatting. With a .ie site, you know who you are doing business with.”
