Cork company ready to dominate IPTV market

CORK-based DigiSoft.tv is set to launch an internet protocol television (IPTV) product next month into a market which will attract up to 100 million subscribers by 2010.

It will be the first foray into the IPTV market for the company, which already has seven years experience with the ITV Box.

The product, to be launched in London on March 5, includes a next generation service delivery platform “DigiHost”, coupled with a new low-cost Java Set Top Box (STB).

DigiSoft will be showcasing the new solution at the world IPTV event which has over 5,000 visitors anticipated to attend, and over 200 exhibitors.

Digisoft’s Senior Vice President of Sales, Fintan Mc Kiernan said: “This is a rapid growth market globally, with IPTV viewers estimated at 2.5 million in 2006 growing to in excess of 100 million viewers by the year 2010 and DigiSoft have a leading edge technology for the market.”

The Set Top Box runs an Interactive Programme Guide (IPG), Video On Demand (VOD), Network Personal Video Recorder and application launcher with a variety of interactive applications.

Digisoft is an Irish company set up in 2000. It employs 30 people and is backed by Enterprise Ireland.
