Market slips from 10,000 mark

THE Irish Index closed down for the third consecutive day yesterday despite a strong performance from C&C. The market ended the day down 24.35 at 9,910.36.

AIB fell 5c to 23.45 while Bank of Ireland gained 4c to 18.53. Irish Life & Permanent weakened 35c to 22.45. Anglo Irish climbed 7c to 16.57.

CRH shed 33c to 33.12 as Kingspan jumped 17c to 21.10 and Grafton added 6c to 12.79. Drinks group C&C stormed 27c ahead to end the session at 11.82 with over 3.1 million shares traded.

Elan lost 27c to close at 10.38. IN&M also slipped back, down 7c to 3.47. Ryanair was 5c down at 12.35 and Aer Lingus rose 2c to 2.87 despite of strike worries.
