THE ISEQ index witnessed an inevitable downward correction yesterday, following Tuesday’s record-breaking figures.

The market shed 12.60 to 9,968.48.

A mixed day for the financials saw gains for Bank of Ireland & Anglo-Irish of 20c and 12 to €18.65 and €16.60. Irish life and Permanent also had a positive outcome, up 3c to €22.63. AIB remained flat at €23.95.

CRH lost 34c to €33.71, Kingspan followed suit with a 28c drop to €20.57, and Grafton lost 10 to €12.60.

Elan slipped even further, dropping 28c to €10.66.

Despite volumes of over 3 million shares traded and the announcement of the full details of the upcoming stock split, Ryanair dipped 10c to €12.35.
