Dairygold bonus decisions welcomed

DAIRYGOLD’S decision to pay a top-up bonus of 2.3c/gallon to suppliers on all milk delivered last year, and a €4/tonne top-up on grain supplied in the 2006 harvest was welcomed by IFA Munster vice president Sean O’Leary.

He said the bonus was a clear indication that the Society recognised the income pressures on their milk and grain suppliers.

Mr O’Leary called on Dairygold to increase milk price with immediate effect, on the basis of buoyancy in the market, the Co-Op’s reduced energy costs and an Irish Dairy Board price increase to co-ops, worth a further €100/tonne, for skim milk powder.
