Improved trade at marts

Marts: The live trade was very firm with improvements of up to €10/head at yesterday’s sales where the numbers of cattle on offer recovered from the downward effect of last weeks weather in some parts of the country.

The number of cattle on offer at Bandon Mart was similar to last week with a very solid trade for bullocks, with improved prices for quality lots. The heavy bullocks sold at €180 over to €305 over and lighter lots made €160 over to €250 over.

Two Belgian Blues 572kg sold for €875, six Friesians 505kg made €720, two Herefords 472kg made €715, two Angus weighing 450kg made €645 and two Simmentals 322kg sold for €520.
