Boel contemplates agricultural reform

EUROPEAN Farm Commissioner Mariann Fischer Boel is in Washington for meetings with leading figures in the administration and Congress on agricultural reform.

The visit is in the wake of the re-launch of the world trade talks and the publication of the Bush proposals for a new United States Farm Bill.

Ms Fischer Boel, writing in her blog before her departure for Washington, said the Bush farm proposals included some positive efforts to go down a similar reform road to that taken already by the European Union.
