French stocks up

FRENCH stocks gained yesterday, led by Electricite de France after speculation that the region’s biggest power generator may be planning to bid for Iberdrola, Spain’s second-largest utility.

The SBF 120 Index advanced 0.5% to 4,179.22.

The CAC 40 Index increased 26.22, or 0.5%, to 5,703.
